Muscle & Weight Gain for Teenagers

My son is 15 and is now 5ft 9, his weight is only 53KG. He grew tall and lanky in the last one year but his weight has not picked up. He looks under nourished though he has all kinds of food. He is an active kid and plays Basketball and the coach also said he needs to gain muscle and weight, else he might injure himself.
Would like to know any suggestions for muscle & weight gain through diet & supplements (if he really needs)

I want to lose weight but even after working out regularly,being punctual on my diet i am unable to.
I have a bowl of sprouts in the morning after workout along with few almonds, then in between i eat makhana or any fruits of my choice mostly apple then at noon i have proper lunch, in the evening i have lemon tea no sugar along with nuts and in the evening at 7 i have a fruit and by night i have sprout salad again.
Since i live in hostel, meeting my body requirements for weightloss is difficult.
What should i do to increase my weightloss??
