Inconsistent Lipoprotein (a) test result
I have tested for Lipoprotein(a) multiple times, and there appears to be a considerable difference
between two results:
- March 2025 – Value: 26
- February 2026 – Value: 42.8
As per my understanding, Lipoprotein(a) is largely genetically determined and is generally considered a one-time test, as levels are expected to remain relatively stable throughout life.
However, my value has changed from within normal range (26) to borderline high (42.8), which has caused concern.

High Lipo(a) and homocysteine
My father and his family has a history of cardiac diseases, recently for heart palpitations i had consulted doctors and my ecg, echo, blood pressure and HbA1C are normal and i avoid any oily or fried foods like 90% of the time. The blood report showed high Lipo(a) around 84.6 mg/dL and homocysteine at 25.77 and my lipid profile is only little off the chart! My vitamin D3 were extremely low so currently i have been asked to take lumia60k once a week and B12 on daily basis even though my vitamin B12 level were under normal range.
I wanted to know should i be taking K2+calcium and magnesium along with D3 ? Would they be beneficial if i take them every day?
Also as mentioned earlier that lipo(a) is a genetic marker and nothing much can be done, what other precautions needs to be considered for such markers.
I am planning to get second opinion as in the first consultation the doctor didn't prescribe any meds as i am in my early thirties.
Any further recommendations would be appreciated
