Cholesterol levels high

My dermatologist asked me to get an LPT done. Cholesterol 217 LDL 140 Trig 171. I go to the gym 3 times a week and consume 100g of protein a day. 2 eggs 1l of milk and 2 scoops of whey protein. Have been advised to cut down on that. Is protein really the culprit or is there any other alternative?
