Tooth and Mouth Problems

A piece of lower molar broke and now foods are getting stucked causing discomfort. Kindly find the attached image of x-ray and please advice whether RCT is compulsory as the cavity haven't touched the root yet. Is it ok to proceed further with cleaning and fillings without RCT.

I have a swelling in gum for one week. It bleeds when brushed. There was little pain too. My dentist says it's severe gingivitis or periodontitis. After taking antibiotics the swelling has went down a little. (Around 70% is cured). Doctor has also suggested to clean the teeth once every year. Should I be concerned that it can be gum cancer? (No alcohol or tobacco use history) I want to take second opinion because I am scared
