Hi Doctor, I have oily, acne prone skin. My face gets very oily in summer. I used 2% Salicylic Acid serum on my full face for 5 days by mistake. Doctor told me to use it only on forehead. My facewash also has Mandelic + Salicylic + Azelaic acid. Now my skin feels rough, tight and dry after washing my face. No burning or itching. Questions: 1. Is this skin barrier damage? 2. Which gentle facewash should I use for oily acne prone skin? 3. Which light, non-comedogenic moisturizer is good for healing? 4. When can I start acids again for my acne? I have read that adding tretinoin and microneedling/dermarolling may increase the effectiveness of minoxidil and improve hair growth results. Is this true? Is it recommended? What strength of tretinoin is typically used with minoxidil? What microneedling/dermaroller depth is generally recommended for hair loss? 28F with oily skin and recurrent acne for months, mainly jawline/chin, cheeks and some forehead. Used clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide spot treatment which heal pimples but new ones keep returning. Started adapalene nightly in late Feb (now ~13 weeks). Around weeks 4–8 I experienced a major purge with many small whitehead-like bumps and pimples across my forehead, cheeks, jawline and chin. Most of that has now settled and marks/spots seem to be improving, but still getting recurring whiteheads/pimples mainly jawline/sideburn area and forehead. The pattern sometimes seems worse around my period, though I’m not fully sure. I recently switched to a benzoyl peroxide face wash and still use benzoyl peroxide as spot treatment when needed. I briefly tried azelaic acid, but it caused some itching/peeling around my jaw area so I paused it. Does this sound hormonal/persistent acne and should I continue topicals or consider oral treatment/change in regimen?
