Calcium supplement

Kindly note I have been advised by my doc to take Shelcal joints for osteoarhtritis in mrng after food and Shelcal xt for calcium after food in night. My query is Shelcal joints contains 500 mg calcium carbonate and Shelcal xt contains 1250 mg calcium carbonate equivalent to 500 mg calcium. Will this not be intaking excess calcium more than the recommended calcium requirement for the body? Will it cause any side effects? Should Shelcal xt be replaced by Shelcal 500?Thanks
