Chest & Breathing Problems

Is it safe?

🩺 Health Update – Need Advice 🙏 Right now, I’m feeling like my throat is filled with something, and I have a tight chest. I also started having mild breathing problems. I have severe acid reflux and bronchitis. I had a viral infection around 3 weeks ago. I tried steam inhalation, but it didn’t help much. I’m thinking of adding salt  to the steam. 👉 My question is: Is it mostly safe or risky — does it need a doctor’s permission? Anyone with experience, please guide me. Thank you! 💬🙏

White mucus after infection still?

Hello doctors, I had a viral infection on 14th June 2025. After that, I developed white mucus with  cough. I met my pulmonologist on 21st June 2025. My chest X-ray was done before the viral infection, on 9th June 2025 (attached below). The doctor prescribed me Cetirizine (antihistamine) and Macbery DX cough syrup for 5 days. After taking the syrup, my cough improved. But I still have mild white mucus. Now I am not taking any medicine or using any inhaler. I’m worried because I don’t have asthma or cystic fibrosis, but during a skin prick test (done for another reason), I found out I’m allergic to Aspergillus fumigatus. I’m concerned that this remaining mucus could lead to fungal colonization. Please advise: Is it normal to have mild mucus after infection? Should I be worried about fungal colonization? What should be my next steps?

Anything to worry about? Please guide.

Hey everyone, Here’s my history: I’m a 27-year-old male who smoked cigarettes for a total of five years (from 2020 to 2022 and again from 2024 to 2025). I recently quit smoking yesterday. I visited a pulmonologist in April 2025, where I underwent pulmonary function tests (PFT) and a chest X-ray. Both results were normal. I have a few questions: 1. Given that I smoked about 3 to 5 cigarettes a day for five years, is there a risk that I have developed cancer? 2. Should I get a low-dose CT scan? 3. Do I need to repeat the PFT? I tend to worry a bit, so I apologize for reaching out. Thanks! 😅

Breathing issues after afternoon sleep

My  father who is 78 years old and experiencing breathing difficulties. I am sharing his medical reports with you for your review. Here are the symptoms we have observed: After lunch, he usually takes an afternoon nap. When he wakes up, he has trouble breathing, along with a wheezing sound. This typically happens after his afternoon sleep. He feels better after using his inhaler. Then during rest of evening this problem is not seen. Even after waking up in the morning, there is no breathing problem. We also observed that when he takes a nap *before* lunch, he does not experience this breathing problem or wheezing. What is he suffering from?

Learning about asthma

Hello Doctors, I am learning about asthma and have a question. I would be grateful to hear your expert opinions. If a patient has atopic asthma, with high IgE levels and is allergic to dust, but their spirometry results are near 100% (normal), then: 👉 When the patient is exposed to dust (allergen), will they still get an asthma attack or not? Even though the spirometry is showing normal values currently. Please share your insights. I’m looking to understand this better from different expert perspectives. Thank you so much in advance.
