Hey everyone,
Here’s my history:
I’m a 27-year-old male who smoked cigarettes for a total of five years (from 2020 to 2022 and again from 2024 to 2025). I recently quit smoking yesterday.
I visited a pulmonologist in April 2025, where I underwent pulmonary function tests (PFT) and a chest X-ray. Both results were normal.
I have a few questions:
1. Given that I smoked about 3 to 5 cigarettes a day for five years, is there a risk that I have developed cancer?
2. Should I get a low-dose CT scan?
3. Do I need to repeat the PFT?
I tend to worry a bit, so I apologize for reaching out. Thanks! 😅

Your apprehensions are not wrong. You have increased risk of having cancers as compared to non smoker. Although low dose ct is required or not can be discussed after consultation.

Hi. I understand your concern. Do a online consult for a detailed analysis of your symptoms and reports to suggest you further management plan and treatment prescription for the same
Cancer risk will always be there
But that doesn't not mean you should start smoking again.... because continuing smoking will further increase the risk of cancer
If you don't have symptoms, and cxrpa is normal... you need not worry
