Bone & Muscle problems

The side of my hand is swelling up and turning blue. It causes pain and discomfort when I move or touch it. Do you happen to know what this is or how I could get rid of the pain.

My left wrist has pain when I try bending the hand backwards. Forwards bending of the hand does produce a twinge, but not currently as bad a pain. The same action does not hurt on the right hand. There have been no breaks and as far as I can tell, no discoloration. The pain started in the last few days to a week. Should I consider a wrist support for a time? Other ideas?
