Pain from fall

Hi, I fell down from a step-ladder about a week ago and fell on my buttocks. First two days there was a lot of pain when sitting, moving and sleeping. I applied ice pack and the pain reduced. But the pain has started again from yesterday. I'm not able to lift heavy objects or bend. When I press the area with my hands there is no pain. As it has become very cold I can't apply ice directly so I'm applying heat. I consulted a doctor friend, he said the pain will go away on its own. Is this true? The pain is hampering my daily work as I can't move quickly or bend down.
