In Google I read that in one experiment they found rabies virus to be active for several hours to days at colder temp and absence of sunlight. Please advise in real life scenarios in winter as weather is around 5-8°C min. and sunlight visibility is very less, how long can the rabies virus be active on surfaces like metal gates, vegetables etc. So many monkeys come in our garden and sit on our iron gates, I have to open them every morning and I got a cut yesterday while doing so. Do I need vaccine?

On internet we get to read that in weather around 5°C or even at room temp rabies virus can be infective for several hours. In real life in winter we have min. temp around 5-8°C and poor sunlight, sometimes it's so cloudy we can't even see the Sun. So how long in real life situation the rabies virus would be active like on our iron gate outside and plants in our garden as so many monkeys some in our garden? Dear doctors, I have a strong fear of rabies and I have taken like 5 (full course) in 2021, 6 boosters in total (3 twice) in 2022 and 11 boosters in 2023 ( 2, 3,3,3) as I had read immunity valid for 3 months. I am just a student and don't have much knowledge. But when I read on internet that rabies virus can be active for several hours on metal and surfaces in low temp and poor sunlight I especially get very scared in winters. Is surface transmission really possible if say a monkey, dog or cat was on our car, scooter or gates of house and I touch it after 5-10 minutes and get a cut or bruise?
