Recently observed a red spot on eye... Slight or no pain facing now... I splited cold water, but nothing working enough

My father had phaco IOL surgery 4 years ago. Recovery was uneventful till now when he has been discovered to have large nuclear fragmentation in this eye. As advised we are planning for surgery to remove the nuclear fragment. How safe is this procedure and whats the post-op prognosis for vision? My father is diabetic and 76 years old.

Currently I am having a red blood patch in the white portion of my left eye, which makes me bit scared, although not having any irritations. I am not sure of the possible reason as it came all of a sudden. Is this a issue of concern? However would like to know the root cause for this, to have the awareness.

I am unable to read the news paper in spite of wearing my glasses and/or any other article with small letters and in deem light also the problem is more severe. Hence unable to concentrate on reading as well as on my routine work at office. Pravinkumar
