I am 19 year old and I have not been fully immunized for tetanus as a child as if had missed some doses... Do I need to get the 3 primary doses of tetanus again as an adult?

My 7 months old son's symptoms are Cough, runny nose and watery stool, after feeding when he coughs he throws up because of the mucus on his throat or chest, his doc prescribed his cough medicine today Ascoril ls 0.8 and Maxtra drops 0.8. My son weights 8kg, is it safe to start this medicine?
