Chest & Breathing Problems
Spirometry
I got a test done recently, not really perfectly done, huge margin for error. My FEV1 was 2.9 L , FVC was 3.1 L and PEF was 550 L/min. I am trying to estimate if these values are normal for asian indians or Asians in general because as soon as I use GLI 2012 equation based on ethnicity race gender weight and height it gives me that my values fall within range with 80% as a min cut off but if I use what they used in Germany that I have lung issues according to spirometry.

Persistent cough with sputum
My father is 50 years old. He has been suffering from cough since years now. It has become permanent, sometimes gets reduced with few wet cough syrups but then again erupts. He has wet cough with sputum varying from thick to transparent with no other major symptom. He smokes 'bidi'. I am third year medical student myself, looking for genuine guidance and treatment from a good doctor in Noida. We would like to treat the cause instead of only symptoms. We have never got his Xray chest done pr sputum tests done.
Please pour in suggestions.
Thankyou
Regards,
Sonia Singh
