Chest & Breathing Problems

My husband is having a cough(starting dry then wet with mucus stuck)for which he got treatment for 10 days in which antibiotic given roxid 150 mg 2 times a day for 5 days doxycycline 100 mg 5 days plus cough syrup and some anti allergy drugs. now after 10 days the cough is very much controlled but after a gap of 3 days cough is started again. the area in which we live is delhi. there for lot of pollution. now another dictor gives Azithromycin 500 two times a day for 5 days. my query is that as it is everywhere, the Azithromycin 500 can be given 1 time for 3 days ir 5 days. so why does the doctor give 2 times a day. also it looks the cough is from some allergy reasons. there is mucus but not so much nor ao thick it is white. no fever no chest pain.

Cold/cough since 5 months, with shortness of breath, wheezing sound seen some general physicians they gave turbohaler , but coughing still not gone yet. It started on 21st july 2005 with ulcer/oral stomatitis in my mouth and tounge was all red and at that time i came to hospital, but medicine didnt cure then i went to one GP and she said its oral stomatitis and cold , her medicine worked , she gave 1000mg antibiotics and cured the inflammation in mouth tounge, but after that coughing started since then and its ongoing till now. Seen few General physicians , they did X ray but it came normal and they said its bronchitis and will take time for phelm to come out and inflammation in the lungs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

When to take a feno test ? When you have symptoms or when symptom free? When is the best time to get tested to get accurate results

For the last couple of months, my lungs have not been expanding fully when I breathe in, and hurt when I try to take a full breath. What could be the reason?

I’ve had asthma since childhood. When I was young, it was quite mild — mostly cold-related, maybe two to four episodes a year, and otherwise I was fine. After my early twenties, it became more seasonal. I’m usually completely fine from around April to October and don’t need any inhaler at all during that time. My problems mainly start in winter. Over the years, I ended up relying mostly on Asthalin. I began using it at the first sign of wheezing or tightness, and when things worsened, I occasionally took short courses of oral steroids. I didn’t use a regular controller consistently. I’m also physically inactive now and feel my stamina is low, and I’m not sure how much of that is asthma versus general fitness. I’m not sure whether my frequent Asthalin use became a physical dependence or more of a habit — I’d like your opinion. This winter, symptoms felt more persistent than before, so I want guidance on proper long-term management.”

I quit smoking 3-4 days ago, and i am experiencing cough (usually transparent, sometimes a little yellow mucus). I did not directly quit, I reduced my frequency and then also I had some cough but it was very minute. I also had a sore throat and fever last night, most likely viral, but the fever is gone now and throat is somewhat better. What should I do for the cough?

I have consulted doctor, all said mild infection, have taken medication, Sputum test, Blood test PFT normal, even CXR PA was normal but small area of consolidation got detected through HRCT, now no any symptoms, sometimes sputum with black dots come up, I have consulted 4 doctors, three of them suggestef no further CT required, it will unnecessary expose to High Radiation, then how can I be sure that the infection have gone away.

Dear Doctor, My daughter is having a severe cough with chest irritation. The doctor prescribed antibiotics and inhalers. Post antibiotics after a week again she s experiencing cough chest irritation and sore throat tiredness. Attached is the x ray took last week. Kindly check the x ray and tell me if the lungs are healthy and good.

Dear Sir/Ma'am, For Female, 65 years, Bronchial Asthma. Issue: Coughing during Night while sleeping. No coughing in Day time. Ongoing medications: Flutiflo-ft, Montek, Nebulization: leolin 0.63, Budecort 0.5 mg; both BD, cough syrup. These medicines are working but NOT able to control Night time coughing while sleeping. I have been seeing blood in my phlegm since last three days, all of it in the morning. I have been coughing a lot since more than a week and I have a history of smoking. The blood in Phlegm is only in the morning. My parents don't know about the smoking thing so I can't tell them yet. I had also been in Delhi for 10 days. Before that never had it happened.
