Esophagus cancer

Dear doctor, my father (55yr) is detected with esophagus cancer 5 months back. During that time doctor said its not operable due to big size. After 5 chemo & 28 radiation size is reduced by 50%. Now doctor said it can be operated. We are in confusion to operate or not? Is there any option to avoid operation? People say once operation is done it spreads fast in other organs. Latest pet after chemo says” reduction in size & metabolic activity of previously seen para-esophageal node. Weakly metabolic gastrohepatic - left upper paratracheal nodes - remain unchanged. We need your lifesaving guidance.
