Tooth and Mouth Problems

I have been using teeth whitening with the blue light. I have used it for 3 nights but I’ve noticed that once I finish whitening I find there are patches of white on my teeth. It looks as though patches of my teeth are whitened and some aren’t? The next day, my teeth look back to their original colour and no patches visible. Should I keep using it? What should I do differently to avoid stains but properly whiten?

I have a red mark on my tongue, though it doesn't cause any pain but looks odd Is this a serious issue?
