Hi doc...I have pcos and my endocrinologist has given me metformin ie glycomet 500 mg twice daily...I am using it since 25 days and I have not got my period yet...should I up my dosage by 500 mg?I heard pcos patients usually have good indications at 1500 mg...also I am obese and keen on conceiving..I already lost 2.5 kg in the last 25 days...do advice...thank you

Hello doctor Is metformin compulsory for pcod. Last month I checked my hba1c and it's 5.8. I decreased weight also from 61kgs to 56kgs. I'm having pcos. doctor advised me to take Metformin 500mg BD and Yasmin tablet 1HS but I'm having excessive sleepiness and tiredness. can it be a side effect of metformin? I have pcod (bilateral) Right ovary and left ovary - 8cc and 9cc. My tsh = 1.475 Insulin (fasting) = 99 Prolactin = 23.73 I met a gyanaecologist.. she said prolactin level should be much lower and asked to take cabergolin 0.25 mg one tablet per week for 4 weeks. And she gave ocp for 3 months to regulate cycles. Also, an endocrinologist advised me to take metformin and asked me to lose more 2 kgs. But I feel my blood test reports are normal.. then why take these medications? I am practicing healthy lifestyle and exercising. My weight is 66 kg height is 5'3". Still trying to lose more weight. Also my breasts are lumpy and heavy.. did usg scan.. scan was normal. I dont know what is happening and I have missed my periods again this month. What should I do? Any suggestion?
