Difficulty in swallowing food

My dad (aged 82 years) is taking RAZ0 20 post dinner every day, due to hiatal hernia (per doc's prescription). Every now and then he still has heavy coughing/mucus and in turn difficulty in swallowing food. He takes bromhexine, when his throat is sore or irritating. Should he do anything else to alleviate his difficulty in swallowing?

Cant able to hear in the right ear
