How should i start solid foods to my baby? He is 5months old. How to check if he is ready for introducing solid food?

My baby who is 3weeks old is being breast fed. She will be ok in the nights and early mornings. But sometimes mostly the second half of the day, she will never stop crying and fussy over being fed. She does not seem satisfied even after long feeding sessions. She was 3.7kg at birth, last week was 3.4kg. I don't see any gain since then. Is this a digestion problem or hunger problem or something else? Please help
