Hoarse voice and tonsillitis

Child yelled A LOT in the evening for some reason. By night, her voice was hoarse. Morning, she wasn't able to speak as voice was almost gone. We thought that it's all because of the previous day yelling. We did various home remedies along with giving her all the rest. Voice improved but I also see her tonsils are swelled now. Are the two conditions linked or the tonsils are swelled because of some other infection, not the yelling?
