My mother is having dry chronic cough since years. But in some weeks it increases more and kind of irritating to hear, She is a smoker since years, Is there a treatment available for chronic cough and what is the reason for this??

My dad was diagnosed with lung TB in March and has been on the prescribed medication ever since. I'm attaching 2 xrays one from march and one from May. He is taking low dose steroids after chest CT score 5/25. Even though he is still coughing. Steroids will be stopped today. Please suggest what to do next. Cough looks dry one normally and no feel of stressful.
