Looks like inner layers of tooth are exposed and possibly that is contributing to the issue. Pain is associated with Molar area. Doctor has been approached but the consultation is almost 4hrs away. Please suggest a pain killer to help meanwhile.

Re-root canal

I underwent a root canal in August 2017. But there is still throbbing pain in that tooth. What can be the reason for this? Do I require a re-root canal? How can I know? Also, the dentist fixed the cap/crown on the same tooth without a screw. And the cap came out once already? Is a screw necessary for the cap to stay in place?
