I was treated for secondary syphilis with one 2.4 million dose of Benzathine Penicilin. After that I am experiencing hyonic jerks, insomnia and sometimes numbness in arms while I am trying to sleep. Is this related to syphilis or a potential side effect of the treatment? I am 28 years old and tested negative for syphilis last year. Tested positive in December and got the treatment 10 days ago. Before treatment I had rashes, fever, sore throat which hurt my left ear as well, neck pain, etc. The symptoms have gone after treatment but then i got hypnic jerks after the treatment. I am taking clonazepam which seems to be working for hypnic jerks and insomnia but wanted to make sure that this is not related to syphilis or its treatment.
