Also there is continuous weight gain since 1 years (approx 10 kg, current weight 58.5 kg). I have following question regarding this: 1) Why reference values are different in second case, as all tests are done at Lal pathlabs? 2) Can these high values lead to weight gain and swelling in body? 3) How to get these values down to average from higher side?

Weight gain due to medication

My father was prescribed Glimp M1 for diabetes .he is 5 kgs above normal weight. he is not losing any weight in spite of following strict diet and exercise .i think it is due to insulinemic action of sulfonylureas. I fear he may get osteoarthritis due to over weight. His fasting blood glucose level was 140 and post lunch was 200.these values were about an year ago . I know that these levels were an year ago and need to get latest values along with HbA1c. is metformin alone not sufficient to control his blood sugar levels given that he follows strict diet and exercise.please help me.

High testosterone level

I got full body test yesterday. At the age of 29, my testosterone level is 854 and the lab provided range is (150 - 750) in adults.. since range is considered differently by different sources. 1. Is my testosterone high ? 2. Is there any negative effects of high testosterone at 29 ?

Need help and guidance

My fasting sugar is 95, pp is 117 and hba1c is 6.3. Rest all reports are normal. Negative in urine. This is first time my hba1c is above 6, usually its between 5 and 5.4. I am only taking Metosartan 50 tablet for BP . Which is again well under control 117/ 76 with medicine. Lipid profile, KFT AND LFT ARE ALL GOOD AND WELL WITH IN RANGE . Should I need any medicine for the above case since hba1c is higher then before. Please give guidance and advice .

I am 5 feet 6 inches and of 82 kg. I have fat accumulated in my lower body (thighs, hips, belly). I have had sedentary lifestyle for last 2-3 years but what are the hormonal reasons which cause weight gain. Because i have a very hairy body ( all over chest, belly, shoulder etc) and feel there might be hormonal imbalance.

Glucobay 50

My mom was having a chest pain..we consulted a cardiologist. He checked her ecg and chest xray.He askd us to get a treadmill test done.He has told my mom to stop using insulin as it it not good for health and have suggested her tablet. She was using lantus and humalog 50.The doc has askd her to stop using insulin and prescribed her to take glucobay 50 once in the morning before food. She has a minor case of fatty liver, not serious. Is it actually true that tablet is better than using insulin?
