Should i start diabetic meds bcoz covid?

I am healthy young 27 year old guy with kind of moderate active lifestyle. Both parents have t2d. I was diagnosed with pre diabetes in 2019 after a treatment of steroid for my treatment of ankylosing spondalytis. It was well under control of fasting 120-130 and pp under 200. With controlled diet and exercising. I was diagnosed with covid 2nd week of January 2021. After the treatment of covid and after recovering however, my fasting sugar has increased to 180-220. While PP is at 250-300. Random is 260-280. I read a lot online for things related to covid and diabetes and all of that. I just understood that Pancreatic B-cells are not getting absorbed. I fear that doctors might prescribe me meds straight away and i dont want to switch to meds at such young age. Is there any treatment for people like me ? Any alternative? Any diet chart? Or maybe a short course of some other kind of medication? Please help ! Thanks in advance !!
