Hormonal Imbalances

When I woke up i experience numbness and sensation at left side of my of body specially at face, arms and left. I am diabetic. Is it due to blood sugar is high at morning time. Please suggest.

My father has been having diabetes since 2008. Now his HBa1c is 8.5 (last time it was 8.1), Fasting blood sugar is 131 (last time it was 139) and avg blood glucose is 190. He consumes alcohol occasionally (4-5 times monthly). Is it harmful for him? He takes medicines, he maintains diet routine property, exercises a lot. Still his HBA1c is abnormally high.
