Kidney Problems

My mother has a 17 mm stone in her left kidney. What should be the recommended procedure for operation for this size (my doctor has told that he will be perform SHOCK WAVE LITHOTRIPSY). When I searched internet I found that this procedure is performed on small and medium sized stones.

Shall I take medicine ya flush therapy... Becz too much paining inside the stomach call u plz tell me wht I ll do

However please let me know if there are any side effects with laser removal of these kidney stones? and if yes are they very severe?
