Child Health Issues

Is pacifier safe for a child health for 8 days old baby. He seems to stop crying when he uses it .I am concerned if there is any side effect/harm of using it.

My 4 months old baby girl is suffering from diarrhoea for last 10 days. I consulted with a paediatrician. He said that it's because of she is keeping her fingers and toys always in mouth, so got infected. He prescribed some medicines such as zinc drops, probiotics and gastric drops. But she is not yet got rid from diarrhoea. What to do?
