Is air travel safe?

My father was having severe pain in the left side of his chest. After seeing angiography report doctor suggested to put stents. I want him to come to Bangalore for angioplasty. Is it safe for him to travel via air? This would be the second angioplasty for him. First was done a year back, in which two stents were put.
