Health Q&A
Depression stress

In depression (primary) or secondary ( due to any physical reasons), inflammation, migraines etc, is there any loss of brain cells or no? The physical changes caused by depression or the neurotransmitters imbalances, are reversible or no? Is there any damage or loss of brain cells as I can see some websites claiming that depression due to inflammation kills brain cells. How quickly can one recover from this or no? Please guide correctly. Also, in physical and mental stress and loss of sleep, breathing becomes shallow. Does this mean less oxygen is reaching the brain? Please guide. Does it permanently lower cognitive abilities or no? Also, do psychiatric medicines and rtms cause any harm?

Melancholic, negative thoughts

My daughter Aparajita, who has just completed her B. Com, complains having unclear evacuation and abdominal pain sometimes. All her pathological reports, ultrasound are normal. We have consulted Physian also, who okayed everything checking all the body parameters. She is an intelligent student. But anytime when there is tendency of flatulence and abdominal pain, she becomes sad and negative. We are regularly trying to make her positive. She wish to do MBA, but she is losing confidence that everything will not be normal when she may stay away from home for study. Please prescribe medication and necessary advice.

Need help with psychiatrist

My husband is very scared of my mother in-law and says that is respect. I don't see any love or respect in the relationship only fear. She asks for heavy money monthly for the maintenance and is very dominant. Any phychiatist who can perform the counselling and get to know what is happening. He acts very weird and silent after talking to her. I am very much sure she does something. I need to know a good phychiatist who I can take him. Any suggestions

Comprehensive Issue

From childhood, I have lifelong difficulties that go beyond ADHD. When I listen to someone speaking, even carefully, I cannot process or understand — it feels like hearing a foreign language. Same with reading — I read but meaning does not reach inside. I cannot form mental images or visualize what is being explained. I cannot connect pieces of information together. These problems have persisted since childhood and affect every area of my life. A comprehensive assessment is required — this is more about comprehension and processing than attention alone. Despite working hard, I am not able to survive or cope. Life is becoming harder as I am growing. Depression because of this reason. Any doctor who understand this more than prescribing only medication. Thanks

Gf acts overly sexual sometimes

Hi, I met this girl for arrange marriage by my parents. We recently had our engagement few days ago, her attitude has changed since then wanting me to treat like priority which is fine initially but she gets overly horny sometimes and tries to dominate me saying I'm hers only.My female friends wanted to meet her so I took her with me, she is hugging my hands tightly in front of them that I got really embarrassed in front of my friends, she lip locks me forcefully in her house when her parents are in home. Few more things have happened in public. I have said to her in nice words on how to behave when we are not alone, she has took this casually and tease me, I'm not her puppy and I don't want my friends & people to think I have got wife who is sexy horny slut.Having said that, apart from this attitude. She is gorgeous and most intelligent person in my life, I allow her to wear modern short, revealing dresses etc.How to make her understand don't act like a slut and how to behave in public?

When Antidepressants Aren't Working — a Psychiatrist's Decision Tree for the Next Step
