Tooth Abscess Treatment

A dental abscess is an infection of the mouth, face, jaw, or throat that begins as a tooth infection or cavity. In 1891, the German dentist Otto Walkhoff introduced the use of camphorated chlorophenol as a medication to sterilize root canals. In case of a root canal, the dentist drills down into the affected tooth, removes the diseased central tissue and drains the abscess followed by sealing the tooth’s pulp chamber and capping it with a crown to enhance strength.
