Knee & wrist pain

My wife has recurring pain in wrist and knee around joint area in both side of body but not at the same time. It keeps on switching sides which is the reason i don't think it is arthritis. Sometime in childhood she was told by a doctor that she may have calcium deficiency. Can this pain be because of this? What kind of doctor should I consult, GP or physiotherapist or orthopedic?
