Hi Doctors, My father is currently suffering from oral cancer, and several other members of his side of family, including my paternal aunt (bua), have also passed away due to cancer. I wanted to understand whether cancer can be hereditary and whether this family history increases my chances of developing cancer in the future. Would you recommend genetic counselling or any screening or preventive measures for me?

My partner is a 31 year old woman. (We are a same sex couple). Cancer runs in her family. Her mother died of breast cancer when she was only 34 years old. Her mother's sister also had breast cancer after that and might probably have it again. Her mother's sister is currently 55 years old. If so, will it be breast cancer or any kind of cancer? She also smokes occasionally but wants to quit it. What can she do to prevent it?
