Health Q&A
Itching and rashes appeared in my body

Hello Doctor, I am currently pregnant around 11 weeks. I have a past history of urticaria (hives) about 8 years ago. Since yesterday, I am experiencing severe itching all over my body along with red, raised rashes that appear in patches/lines and keep changing location. The itching is present throughout the day and night. Today I consulted a doctor and was given an injection for allergy and prescribed Lacto Calamine lotion, but the itching is still continuing. I would like to know: 1. Can I take a safe antihistamine tablet during pregnancy (like cetirizine)? 2. Do I need any further treatment or tests? 3. Is this condition harmful to my baby? Please advise on safe treatment options. Thank you.
