The cycle of bulimia includes binging of food and then purging it by vomiting, using laxatives, crash diets or heavy exercise to keep the calories in check. After eating, the guilt sets in and the effort to lose the calories lead to drastic measures such as crash diets or a ten mile run to counter the eating session. Physical signs include smelling of vomit, eating too much of mint gums, visiting the bathrooms to throw up after eating and session of over eating and fasting are strong indicators of bulimia.
