Health Q&A
Losing weight around 7 kgs from 14 month

Hi Doctor, My husband is diabetic from past 8 years, he moved out of the country for job,  1 and half year back. He started losing weight from then around 7 kgs. He is on metmorfin 500 mg tablet from past 1 year after doctor prescribed here. He recently got all his blood work done, everything is normal but hba1c is 11.2. so doctor added insulin. I am worried about his weight loss. Initially first 6 months he lost around 4 kgs due to change in his food habits like morning breakfast was only bread and lunch was limited.

Diabetes and Urinary track infection

I have diabetes and recently due uti, admitted in hospital and got discharged. However, again I am having some back pain and I observe some bad smell during my urination. Is there any issue.

Hb1ac and fructosamine

I had done blood test . Fructosamine value was normal , fasting -93 and hb1ac was 6, iron deficiency is there -45, folate deficiency - extreme . Hb -11. I am 40 year old . I dont want to take medicine . Is this the sign of prediabetes

Palpitations after insulin change

I  having Type 1 diabetes and Hypothyroidism. For years, I was on premixed insulins (Novomix 50 and Mixtard 30) without these symptoms. Three months ago, my regimen changed to Actrapid before meals and Xglar at night. Since then, I have new symptoms, mainly at night: breathlessness, fast heartbeat, internal restlessness/panic, throat discomfort, and disturbed sleep. ECG and basic tests are normal. A doctor prescribed Fluoxetine, Etizolam, Propranolol, and Livas, but I have not started them yet. My labs show: HbA1c 8.5%, fasting glucose 253 mg/dL, TSH 10.1 (high), low iron, and low HDL. These symptoms began only after the insulin change. I want to know if this could be due to insulin timing/dose and glucose swings, thyroid imbalance, or iron deficiency rather than anxiety. Should I correct these first before starting the psychiatric medicines? Is adjusting insulin or returning to my previous regimen reasonable?
