Visited Dr. Vidyadhara S. (Spine Surgeon (Ortho)) For Spinal FusionLaminectomy

Dr Vidyadhar insisted on having an MRI of the full spine done before he would comment. After seeing the MRI reports he diagnosed him with myelomalacia, created a sense of urgency & insisted us to get him admitted on that day itself, for spinal laminectomy and fusion surgery. He explained the surgery would happen the next day, and my father in law would be discharged the day after, after making him walk. ** ******** ** * ** **** ** ********* ******* ********** ***** * ** ****** ** ********* *********** After consulting multiple doctors each of whom had advised surgery, we got him admitted in Manipal under Dr. Vidyadhar after a week, and was operated on the next day. After surgery when asked how my father in law was doing Dr said the surgery went fine and told us to ask the PAC team as his job was done. He showed a pic of the xray of his neck with a screw as proof of his successful surgery. My father in law was shifted to ventilation after being kept on post op for about 5 hrs during which his CO2 levels became 65 whereas for a normal healthy person it's around 35. He was slowly recovering in ICU and after 3 days he was shifted to HDU as in his condition all his vitals had to be monitored. On the next day he had to be ventilated again as now his Co2 shot up to 107 with all the monitoring. The doctors didn't feel the need to monitor CO2 even though the 1st time he was ventilated for Co2 retention itself. Dr Akhil and other doctors of the spine team had visited HDU but they had overlooked his deteriorating condition. We repeatedly informed the doctors about him ******** ********* but the doctors dismissed those stating they are post icu delirium and is normal. Only after the family intervened and took initiatives, they shifted him to ICU and provided ventilation. All this while Dr Vidyadhar and his team of spineless doctors acted irresponsibly and kept on insisting that their part was done* ******* ************** *** *** **** *** ** *** *** ***** ** **** ** ********* * ***** ***** ** ********* ** * **** ********** **** When asked about the CSF leak from the surgery site, the team kept on giving inconclusive answers. They displayed alarming indifference to our concerns, dismissing them and failing to provide adequate care. ** ******* * * ********** ***** ********** **** *** *** ******** ** **** ** *** *** ********* ***** ** *** ** * ****** ******* ********** ********** *** ** *********** *************My father in law fought for 13 days on ventilation. Visited Dr. Lohit Shetty Raju (GastroIntestinal Surgeon)
Happy with: Doctor friendlinessExplanation of the health issueTreatment satisfactionValue for moneyWait time
We are extremely grateful to Dr. Lohit Shetty Raju Sir for the exceptional care he provided to my sister, who was diagnosed with a complex peritoneal cyst spanning across her liver, colon, and gall bladder. From the very first consultation, Dr. Shetty impressed us with his deep knowledge, thorough clinical analysis, and an incredibly empathetic approach.
(I must disclose another information here, we had earlier consulted another surgeon regarding the same problem for my sister, so we were already aware of the challenges involved to some extent. However, that experience left us feeling anxious and overwhelmed due to the way the surgical process was explained, including mentions of potentially *********** ********** **** ********** ***. The communication lacked clarity and reassurance, which made us apprehensive.)
In contrast we were very lucky to come across Dr. Lohit Shetty sir, he patiently reviewed every detail of the CT and abdomen scans, Blood Reports, took time to understand the underlying issue, and answered all our queries about the diagnosis, treatment options, and potential future complications. His communication was clear, transparent, and deeply reassuring.
During surgery, he demonstrated not only surgical precision but also a commitment to empowering us as family members. He came out of the OT mid-procedure to explain the unexpected complexity and the medical necessity of removing the gall bladder of my sister. He ensured we fully understood the implications and gave us the confidence to proceed. That moment reflected both his integrity and compassion.
He meticulously removed the large cystic mass along with the smaller satellite cysts, ensuring a thorough outcome. Post-surgery, his care did not stop at clinical success. He provided a detailed recovery plan, including physiotherapy , diet and medications, that helped my sister feel significantly better within just 72 hours.
Dr. Lohit Shetty is not just a brilliant Gastroenterologist / Hepatobiliary surgeon but a doctor who genuinely cares. His patience, empathy, and passion for treating patients with accuracy and open communication make him a standout medical professional. We left the hospital today with immense gratitude in our hearts.
I would highly recommend Dr. Lohit Shetty Raju sir to anyone seeking expert care in hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal surgeries, especially for complex conditions like peritoneal cysts, cholecystectomy, or abdominal mass excisions. His evidence-based approach, surgical expertise in minimally invasive and open procedures, and patient-centered communication truly set a benchmark in clinical excellence. LOHIT SIR THANKS A TONNE AGAIN!

Happy with: Doctor friendlinessExplanation of the health issueTreatment satisfactionValue for moneyWait time
Based on lot of research and multiple suggestions from different people, I decided to consult Dr. Vidyadhara S (HOD Spine Department - Manipal Hospital) for my mother Renu Anand's spine problem as she was suffering from Leg pain & numbness since last few years due to her spine issue. While consultation he patiently examined deeply, listened to her problem and gave us the much needed confidence and advise to undergo a spine surgery L3/L4 and L5/L6 fusion/decompression. Because of his level of knowledge, confidence and expertise we did not give a second thought and decided to go ahead for the surgery. Her surgery happened last week on 18th Aug 2022 and I am happy to say that she started walking on the evening of her surgery date itself and as today its her 5th day post surgery she is improving everyday. Dr. Vidyadhara is a true gem and a Big Thanks to him for being so much more than I ever would have thought I could find in a senior doctor. Shoutout for a great team of doctors headed by Dr. Vidyadhara especially Dr. Bala, Dr. Ashish and Dr. Prabhakar for their guidance and support starting from the first day itself till today. I have never came across such a wonderful and a professional team of doctors who tirelessly work 24×7 for the service of their patients. Thanks to Dr. Vidyadhara and entire spine team of Manipal for the tremendous skill in performing my mom's surgery. Your talent and caring manner is a credit to the medical profession.
