Hi Doctor,
For the last 8 days, I have been experiencing a strange sensation in my head. It initially started on the left side at the back of my head, near the ear. For the past 4 days, it has changed to a feeling of heaviness or pressure, like there is some weight on that side. It is not really a headache, but I occasionally feel small, pin-like pains here and there.
I have checked some of my neurological functions myself, and everything seems normal. I can move my eyes normally, walk properly, do household activities, and continue my office work without any problem.
Do you think I still need a CT scan or MRI based on these symptoms?
I am also quite scared about the possibility of a brain tumor/cancer. I understand that no one can rule that out without proper examination or scanning, but I wanted to know whether my symptoms alone suggest anything concerning that would require imaging.
Please advise me on what I should do next.
Is Neuro desease Ataxia curable? I have been suffering since last 4 years. My Allopathy & Acupressure treatment going on. Already taking Ciplar 40mg since last 2 years. Please guide..
For the past 8 months, I have been experiencing severe headaches involving the front, sides, back of my head and neck. Initially, they lasted for short periods, but they have gradually progressed and now can last almost the entire day. I initially ignored them thinking they were normal tension headaches and took no medication, but the symptoms have progressively increased and new symptoms have appeared. I now experience blurred vision with occasional brief episodes of complete blackening of vision, eye pain and very heavy eyelids, constant muffled hearing with brief episodes of markedly muffled sounds, difficulty retaining information, finding words, getting stuck while speaking and mispronouncing words, excessive fatigue and sleepiness, jaw pain, difficulty rotating my neck, constant pain in both legs with night-time calf/foot cramps, severe hand pain, recurrent constipation, episodes of difficulty breathing, and chest/hand-arm pain. I have also noticed prominent vessels on the sides
My mom has SCA (Spinocerebellar Ataxia). She sometimes doesn't realise that she needs to get fresh or has pressure to get fresh and dirty the clothes in that case. Can some medicines be given to avoid this?
On the contrary sometimes she gets feeling that she has to pass stool 3-4 times a day while she
doesn't get fresh
My mother developed sudden slurred speech and numbness on one side of the face, so we took her to a nearby multispecialty hospital immediately. She was evaluated by a neurologist, who ordered an MRI brain with MR angiography (report attached) and an ECG. The neurologist said there was no major acute abnormality on the MRI, advised her to continue her current medications (Tazloc 40 and Zapiz 0.25), and recommended a cardiology review with echocardiogram, lipid profile, fasting blood sugar, and HbA1c tomorrow.
However, her slurred speech and facial numbness are still present. If the MRI does not show an acute stroke, what could explain these persistent symptoms? Could this still represent a TIA/small stroke not visible on imaging?she had Bell's palsy (she had Bell's palsy 3 years ago but got cured), or another neurological condition? What additional evaluation or management would you recommend?
