Thank you for your feedback and hope after reading this you will give your future feedback with responsibility after inquiry into the facts and don't degrade genuine and ethical dentists for mistakes done by other unprofessional dentists. I would like to clarify your concern that I am not trust worthy. I am not supposed to degrade other dentist who treated your daughter but doing it in defense to clarify my suggested treatment plan and cost. And would also want to know why did not you continue your daughter's treatment at Citizens Hospital again or even not commented on the completely wrong and blunder treatment done there for which they can even be sued in court? Your daughter was treated earlier at dental wing of "citizens hospital" (as mentioned by you) by a B.D.S. dentist where she underwent pulpectomy (root canal treatment for milk teeth) and few fillings. A year back when your daughter underwent pulpectomy (root canal for milk teeth) in four milk teeth which which were filled using a non-resorbable material i.e. Gutta Percha instead of a resorbable medicament i.e calcium hydroxide and iodoform paste, which were clearly evident in the radiographs taken (which were mailed to you for second opinion). Gutta percha is used only in permanent teeth root canal treatment and in rare cases in milk tooth if the underlying permanent tooth is missing by birth congenitally. It is not a mistake in treatment but a blunder by a dentist which reflects his / her lack of knowledge. Doing so he / she had prevented the permanent teeth to erupt as Gutta percha cannot be resorbed (wear off) by erupting new teeth. I have suggested re-treatment for the same or removal of the tooth (if the material does not come out) as a line of treatment under local anesthesia. I had to reveal you the same as my professional duty for which we take oath during registering our name in dental council after completion of our B.D.S & / or M.D.S. I remember explaining you in detail the wrong treatment done even by showing what material was supposed to be used and what was used. Everything explained to you is written in my prescription in detail by me. You should actually sue the "citizens hospital" in court for doing such wrong treatment with inexperienced dentist to a 5yr child. I have also recommended you to take second opinion regarding the same by visiting any other Pediatric dentist. Now coming to the cost factor. The condition of your child's teeth are worse with deep dental cavities and badly destructed teeth for which pulpectomy followed by stainless steel crown was suggested for many backside teeth along with preventive dental treatment (pit and fissure sealants and topical fluoride varnish application) to protect your child's teeth. The already treated two back teeth as I mentioned should either be re-done followed by crown or removed followed by placement of a space maintainer (to maintain that space occupied by the milk tooth till the next tooth erupts or else there would be a space loss due to movement of adjacent teeth into the space after tooth removal). The front already treated two teeth i have suggested removal as the tooth has been damaged completely by previous dentist and it has less prognosis if re-done (re-doing charges would have been more than removal). The lower front teeth have already erupted and the erupting of upper teeth is already delayed as evident in the radiograph. The already done fillings were fractured with cavities below it for which I have suggested re-filling. I have also mentioned that you should have gone for preventive treatment for your child at the previous dental hospital for which you said you were not suggested. The other teeth would not have been as damaged as there are now if you had undergone preventive dental treatments earlier which ideally only Pediatric dentists and very few other dentists advice for the child's well being. i would request you to compare the charges per pulpectomy charged at Citizens hospital with the one I have suggested and I am pretty sure it would be very much reasonable as I am a consultant at other dental hospitals also. Your child's treatment cost is higher because of the increase in number of teeth undergoing pulpectomy and SS crown as there are severely damaged, but not because of me. Stainless steel crowns which are mandatory for back teeth after pulpectomy if it takes more than a yr for the next tooth to erupt and it was not at all suggested by previous dentist. We are not electricians or carpenters to "fix"problems. We are trained and qualified professional dentists who treat your children for the damages caused by parents lack of knowledge regarding oral / dental health. I have also informed you regarding the bad consequences which would occur if your child didn't undergo treatment. All the treatments suggested are already researched and evidence based. I suggest you to kindly visit many other Pediatric dentists available in Hyderabad and inquire if my suggestions were false or not and undergo treatment immediately at their premises as your daughter seriously requires dental and preventive treatments.
