Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. I understand your concern — a blood pressure reading of 134/90 is slightly elevated and can be influenced by multiple factors even in healthy individuals who exercise and maintain a good diet. Occasional stress, sleep quality, sodium intake, or measurement technique can affect readings ✅ Advices • Ensure consistent blood pressure monitoring at the same time daily under calm conditions • Limit excess salt, processed foods, and caffeine, even if your diet is otherwise healthy • Continue your exercise and pranayama practice, and add relaxation techniques to manage stress What to Monitor • Track your BP for 1–2 weeks and note patterns • Watch for symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, or palpitations Management For slightly elevated BP, lifestyle measures are usually effective. If readings persist above 140/90 on multiple occasions, your doctor may consider medications. Avoid self-starting antihypertensives When to Consult a Doctor Immediately • Persistent BP above 180/120 • Severe headache, chest pain, shortness of breath, or vision changes • Signs of stroke such as weakness, numbness, or speech difficulty Every patient’s situation is unique. For accurate diagnosis and tailored management, it is important to discuss your medical history, lifestyle, and blood pressure trends in detail You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one-on-one consultation where you will receive A personalized blood pressure management plan Safe lifestyle and medicine adjustments if required Quick follow-ups to track progress Take care, wishing you good health Best regards Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician

This reading is normal. If bp goes higher than 140/90 and persists, you will need to start bp medications

A blood pressure reading of 134/90 is only mildly elevated, but since you’re already maintaining good lifestyle practices like exercise, pranayama, and a healthy diet, it makes sense to explore if there are other contributing factors. Sometimes stress, sleep quality, hormonal shifts, or even subtle metabolic changes can play a role despite an otherwise disciplined routine.
Next Steps
A single or occasional reading doesn’t necessarily mean hypertension, but consistent elevations over two weeks do deserve a closer look. Tracking your BP at different times of the day and ruling out secondary causes is important. I’d recommend reviewing your history, risk profile, and any medications you may be on before deciding if treatment is required. That can be best done over a consultation so we can interpret the readings in the right context and avoid unnecessary worry.
Health Tips
Do not start or stop any medicine on your own. Keep a log of your BP readings (morning and evening) for at least a week and note any associated symptoms like headaches, palpitations, or dizziness. If the values keep trending upward or you develop such symptoms, please don’t delay seeking medical guidance. You can book a quick consult with me on Practo so we can evaluate whether this is just a temporary variation or the beginning of a condition that needs early attention.

Your BP of 134/90 mmHg is slightly high and since it’s persisting for 2 weeks, it definitely needs evaluation. Even with exercise and a healthy diet, hidden causes like stress, excess salt, or early hypertension can raise BP. To avoid complications, I recommend a detailed consultation where I can review your history and guide you on whether only lifestyle changes are enough or if medication is required. Please connect with me now for proper assessment.

In some people systolic bp is high sometimes. Also do check your salt intake reduce it. You need to consult a Cardiologist in case you need a high bp medication for few days. Also do check your thyroid levels by doing thyroid tests. You can also consume Green Tea on daily basis in moderate amounts. Do get your lipid profile done. Sometimes stress Also reduces the bp. If you are consuming coffee also your bp may increase. Ok. That's it. Thank You and Regards.
