Liposuction/Lipo is a surgical procedure that slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat locally, thereby improving the body proportions.

Who are the candidates?

Adults within 30% of their ideal weight, who have firm, elastic skin and good muscle tone.Individuals who do not have a life-threatening illness or medical conditions.Individuals with realistic expectations.

Post Procedure:

  • Simple liposuction will not require any hospital stay. But, when done along with tummy tuck, hospital stay for a day or two is required as there will be a suture line.
  • Post-procedure, a compression garment or elastic bandages will be given and that is to be worn in the treated areas. This will help in controlling the swelling and also in compressing the skin to the new body contours.
  • Also, small drains may be placed in the incision sites, for aiding the drainage of excess blood/fluid.

During discharge, instruction will be given on:-

  • Wound care.
  • Medication to be taken orally and applied topically.
  • Next, follow up visits.
  • Lifestyle modifications (diet you need to follow and exercises you should be doing).
  • One should start brisk walking as soon as one can get on their feet and should follow the exercise routine suggested.

Post-procedure one can experience pain, tenderness, bruising, swelling over the treated area for a couple of days.

Preparing for your procedure:-

After the initial consultation and thorough evaluation by your doctor, you will be asked to:-

  • Get some relevant blood tests are done. (Surgical profile)
  • Stop smoking (if you are a smoker)
  • Avoid taking certain medications that may risk the procedure.
