Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute (VPCI) is a 60-bed postgraduate medical institution on Guru Tegh Bahadur Road, University Enclave, Delhi 110007, dedicated to the study, treatment and research of respiratory diseases. It is affiliated with the University of Delhi and funded by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It was founded in 1949 and officially inaugurated in 1953, and holds NABH accreditation.The institute operates the Viswanathan Chest Hospital, formerly the Clinical Research Centre, which provides OPD and IPD services. Its clinicians treat asthma, tuberculosis, COPD, lung infections, sleep disorders and other respiratory conditions. Clinical and laboratory work covers respiratory medicine, respiratory therapy and respiratory physiotherapy, tuberculosis and chest diseases, pulmonary infection medicine, allergy and immunology, clinical and medical microbiology including mycology and virology, pathology and clinical biochemistry, neurophysiology, clinical pharmacology, pain management, emergency medicine, family and community medicine, and diagnostic imaging including radiology, radiotherapy, echocardiography and treadmill testing and exercise physiology.
