Fasting is an integral part of many religions; it is not only of spiritual significance but also important to maintain and regaining health. It is a method of self-cleaning. It has mental, physical and spiritual benefits. But it is important to know when, how and how much one should fast. There are many types of fasting; you should choose your fasting type keeping in mind about the following things -

 *Your mental strength and will power. 

*Digestive strength.

*Body type (Prakriti)

*Your food habits

When to Fast?

When you feel tired, dull, lethargic, heaviness, suffering from digestive issues like gas, burping, bloating, etc, your tongue is white coated then it is time for to fast and get rid of toxins. You can also do fast on spiritual days, once in a week, once in a month or during the change of season. 

What are the different types of Fasting?

*Skipping breakfast only

*Skipping lunch or dinner or both

*Water fasting- drinking only warm water the whole day.

*Juice fasting

*Fruit fasting

*Vegetable fasting

*No food no water fasting

You can choose the type of fasting suitable for you after consulting an Ayurvedic doctor:

*Kichadi fasting (have kichadi once in a day) is recommended to all. 

Fruit or juice fasting is recommended to a healthy person only

What are the benefits of fasting?

Who should not Fast?

Below persons should not fast. It will have an adverse impact on their health.

*Those who are underweight should not do fasting
