Unable to lose weight despite diet
Hello Doctor, I am a 32-year-old female, height 156 cm. My weight was 58 kg until March 2025, but it suddenly increased to 63 kg. Despite reducing sugar, exercising regularly, following diets, and trying home remedies, I have been unable to lose weight. I have had severe constipation since my pregnancy 8 years ago, along with bloating and abdominal distension. I had PCOS in the past. In April 2025, I consulted a Siddha doctor for PCOS and took medicines for one month. I spent around ₹10,000, but I noticed weight gain and stopped the treatment. Since January 2026, my periods have become regular and I currently do not have PCOS symptoms. I have also consulted a gastroenterologist, but nothing has changed. I am looking for safe Ayurvedic treatment and guidance to lose around 8 kg. Could there be any hormonal or metabolic issue.could you please provide guidance or advice to reduce my weight and help to cure gut problem

Thank you for sharing your history in detail. I understand how frustrating it can be when you're making healthy changes but not seeing results. A weight gain of 5 kg over a short period despite following a healthy diet and regular exercise suggests that it is important to look beyond calories alone. Since you also have long-standing constipation, bloating, abdominal distension, and a previous history of PCOS, it would be worthwhile to evaluate for possible underlying causes such as thyroid dysfunction, insulin resistance, vitamin deficiencies, elevated cortisol, or other metabolic or hormonal imbalances. Even though your menstrual cycles are now regular, some metabolic features associated with PCOS can persist. I would recommend discussing the following investigations with your physician if they haven't already been done: Thyroid profile (TSH, Free T3, Free T4) Fasting blood glucose and HbA1c Fasting insulin (to assess insulin resistance) Lipid profile Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 Liver and kidney function tests Regarding your gut health, chronic constipation and bloating for 8 years should be addressed systematically. Focus on: Drinking 2.5-3 litres of water daily. Consuming 25-35 g of fibre from vegetables, fruits, legumes, oats, and seeds, while increasing fibre gradually. Including fermented foods such as curd or buttermilk if you tolerate dairy. Ensuring adequate protein intake with each meal. Walking for 10-15 minutes after meals and maintaining regular sleep.

Health Tips
An 8 kg weight loss is achievable, but the priority should be identifying and correcting the underlying cause while following a personalised, balanced nutrition plan rather than restrictive diets or home remedies.
