If you notice a red patch inside your cheeks that comes and goes, it is essential to have it evaluated by a healthcare professional, such as a dentist or doctor. While it is difficult to determine the exact cause without a proper examination, there are a few possibilities: Irritation or trauma: The red patch may be caused by accidental biting, rough foods, or irritation from dental appliances like braces or dentures. Allergic reaction: It's possible that you may be having an allergic reaction to certain foods, oral care products, or medications. Oral infection or inflammation: Infections like candidiasis (oral thrush) or inflammatory conditions like lichen planus can cause red patches. Oral cancer: Although less likely, persistent red patches that do not go away should be evaluated to rule out the possibility of oral cancer. It is important to have any persistent or recurring oral symptoms examined by a healthcare professional. They will be able to assess the area, take a detailed history, and provide an accurate diagnosis. They may recommend further tests or refer you to a specialist, such as an oral pathologist or oral surgeon, if needed. Early detection and prompt treatment of any potential issues are crucial for maintaining oral health.
