I got my muccocele removed today, had two stitches and one of them opened up on its own within 6-7 hours. No bleeding or extra pain as of now, what should I do?

Mucocele was removed from which location? Lower Lips? Tongue? Buccal mucosa?Floor of mouth? Share a pic for better advice. If the single suture is able to keep the edges close, losing one stitch may be inconsequential. However if the wound has opened up considerably, the healing may be prolonged or the risk for infection may increase.

If one of the stitches from your mucocele removal has opened up within 6-7 hours, it's important to take appropriate steps. Firstly, remain calm as it is not uncommon for stitches to loosen or come out early. To minimize the risk of infection or complications, follow these guidelines: Gently rinse your mouth with a warm saline solution (a mixture of salt and water) after meals to maintain oral hygiene. Avoid touching the open stitch with your tongue, fingers, or any objects to prevent further damage or infection. Refrain from consuming hot, spicy, or hard foods that could irritate the area. Apply a cold compress on the outside of your cheek near the site of the removed mucocele to help reduce swelling. Contact your dentist or oral surgeon who performed the procedure to inform them about the situation. They can provide specific guidance based on your individual case. Remember, without bleeding or excessive pain, the situation may not be an immediate cause for concern. However, it is important to consult your dental professional for further evaluation and advice to ensure proper healing and minimize any potential complications.
