Stitch removal after wisdomtooth surgery
Is 3 to 4 weeks after wisdom tooth removal sufficient to remove stitches? Would'nt stiches come off gradually. What kind of material is used for dental stitches?

stitches that come off gradually are known as 'resorbable' sutures. As these dissolve, they release acid hence not preferred by most dentists. If your stitches are made of silk, have it removed as soon as possible,it tends to collect bacteria. If they are any monofilament, you still have to have it removed, but there is no hurry.

Hello sir , There are 2 types of suture materials absorbable and non absorbable  for extraction usually non absorbable are used and after a week the sutures have to be removed by the dentist . 3 to 4 weeks is a long time  you can go and remove them soon.

Sutures after extraction are usually non-resorbable type. They need to be removed about a week after extraction. Do get them removed as having them for a long time may cause food lodgement and infection.

3-4 weeks for too much for removal of non- absorbable stitches..if you have got these ones, better to go and get them removed soon.. otherwise, it might result in infection at that area...
