My mother is 70 years old and has really low vitamin D (6.2) and low vitamin B12 levels. Please suggest quality supplements she can have. And does she need to take calcium along with VitD?

Yes she can take Calcium along with Vitamin D. But she really needs to undergo DEXA scan to rule out any osteporotic changes have been their already and should be supplemented with teriparitide or denosumab

Take supplementation under professional guidance. Few confirmed nutritional deficiencies point towards many more . Look at your health holistically

Vitd increases absorption of calcium You need to take calcium either supplement or tablet with it. My suggestion is to take a tablet calcium 500 mg daily for 1 week if tolerable we'll make it twice a day Vit d 60000 IU capsule for 8 weeks once per week
Next Steps
get adequate sunlight and do mild excercise
Health Tips
brisk walking for 15 to 30 mins in morning sunlight ( preferably 7 to 8 30 am )

Your mother's vitamin D level of 6.2 ng/ml is severely deficient (normal range: 30-100 ng/ml) and requires immediate supplementation. Recommended Supplements: 1. Vitamin D3: - Start with 60,000 IU once weekly for 8 weeks (loading dose) - Then continue with 2000 IU daily as maintenance - Brands: Shelcal, Calcirol, Uprise-D3 2. Vitamin B12: - Methylcobalamin 1500 mcg once daily for 3 months - Then 1000 mcg daily as maintenance - Brands: Neurobion Forte, Methylcobal 3. Calcium + Vitamin D combination: - Yes, calcium supplementation is recommended with Vitamin D - Calcium 500mg + Vitamin D3 250 IU twice daily - Take after meals for better absorption - Brands: Shelcal 500, Calcimax Important Points: - Take Vitamin D with a fatty meal for better absorption - Ensure adequate sun exposure (15-20 minutes daily) - Calcium and B12 can be taken together - Separate Vitamin D and calcium doses by 2 hours if taking high-dose Vitamin D
Next Steps
Recheck vitamin D and B12 levels after 3 months. Monitor for any side effects like constipation. Consult physician if mother has kidney stones or hypercalcemia. Maintain balanced diet rich in dairy, eggs, and fortified foods.
