For left thumb pain persisting for a month, several causes could be considered. It could be due to overuse, repetitive strain injury, tendinitis, or even mild arthritis. Thumb pain can also arise from De Quervain's tenosynovitis, which affects the tendons around the base of the thumb. If there's swelling, reduced motion, or discomfort when gripping, this might be the case. To manage it, you can try the following: 1. Rest the thumb and avoid activities that cause pain. 2. Apply cold packs to reduce swelling and pain. 3. Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medications, like ibuprofen, may help. 4. Stretching exercises to improve thumb mobility can be beneficial. 5. Use of a thumb splint may help immobilize and protect the thumb. For a more thorough evaluation and personalized treatment plan, you can consult me directly or message me on WhatsApp at eight zero zero nine eight two one double three two.
